On June 24, Wagner PMC leader Yevgeny Prigozhin announced his troops are marching from Rostov-on-Don in the south of Russia on Moscow, to take down the country’s military command. Vladimir Putin accused him of treason, a criminal case was initiated, but the Wagner column kept moving, meeting practically no resistance, until the evening. During the day, Russia’s capital was preparing: museums and shopping malls were evacuated, the Red Square was closed. By the end of the day, Prigozhin called off his troops.
